The Student Voices on Sexual Violence survey launches February 26th, 2018.
Your voice is vital. CCI Research is conducting a survey on behalf of the Ministry of Advanced Education and Skills Development, colleges, private career colleges and universities in Ontario. We are inviting you to respond to an important survey about campus safety and unwanted sexual experiences, the Student Voices on Sexual Violence survey. The Student Voices on Sexual Violence survey is the largest post-secondary survey ever conducted in Ontario.
By participating, you can improve services on campus, shape education on preventing sexual violence for your peers and make it easier for people affected by sexual violence to get the support they need. The survey takes about 20 minutes on average and will ask you questions about your perspective on, and experiences with, sexual violence. After you have submitted the survey, you will be given the opportunity to select your choice of a $5 electronic gift card from Amazon.ca®, !ndigo.ca, and Starbucks® which will be sent to you as a token of appreciation for your time and feedback.
Your consent is part of this. Think of it like how “Consent is like fries” (Planned Parenthood, 2016): Freely-given, Reversible, Informed, Engaged, and Specific – remember that you get to choose how you respond to the survey, and no questions are mandatory; you can exit the survey at any time.
You don’t have to have experienced sexual violence or consider yourself a survivor to participate. All voices are valid.
We understand that completing a survey on sexual violence can bring up different feelings. Know you are not alone. Ryerson has various support services available as listed here. The Consent Comes First office will be hosting a Drop-in Survey Room where you can fill in the survey and connect with resources, in SLC 508 and a Consent Fair on the following dates:
Tuesday, February 27 2pm – 5pm
Wednesday, February 28 9am – 12noon
Monday, March 5 12 noon – 2pm
Tuesday, March 6 from 9am – 12 noon
