Monday, August 25 – Blue and Gold Day!
RU Excited? To start of this amazing week of orientation events and fun, the theme of this day will be BLUE AND GOLD DAY!
Side note: for those who may not be flossing like Nelly in his gold, yellow is also acceptable. Come out to the first day and rep your Ryerson colours while meeting new people and taking part in some amazing activities!
Rise and Shine: Breakfast and Registration | 9:00AM – 11:00AM | Registration: KHSW Arch / Breakfast: Student Campus Centre (Rain Location: KHW Lower Ground Hallway)
Doesn’t that look amazing? The wonderful folks of the Ryerson Students’ Union will be serving up a FREE PANCAKE BREAKFAST on the mornings of Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday! On Wednesday morning, they will be serving a special cultural breakfast! Free food? We have nothing else to add.
While this happens, from 9:00AM – 11:00AM this Monday morning, registration for Central Orientation will be happening under the Kerr Quad Southwest Arch. Just to note, there is no pre-registration, you are not required to be here right for 9:00AM, as open registration happens between 9:00AM – 11:00AM, but you are encouraged to come early and meet your team! Come and we will be able to register you, and you will be on your way to an amazing day of events! Note: Please have either your Student Number or Ryerson Email ready. Other note: residence students do not have to register – just come with your residence advisor!

After you register and meet your orientation group, right beside you, you will have the opportunity to check out some of the amazing Ryerson groups and services available for you during your time at Ryerson. Check them out and get involved!
Rise With Us: Launch and Invocation | 11:00AM – 1:00PM | Meeting in Kerr Quad, Walk to Mattamy Athletic Centre
To start off your Ryerson journey right, we begin with the traditional walk around the Kerr Quad, where we will make our way as a large group to the invocation ceremony happening in the Mattamy Athletic Centre! Here, you will be officially welcomed into Ryerson by an impressive cast of members from the Ryerson community. Did I forget to mention that Drum Cafe will be facilitating an interactive sessions, where you, the audience, will be given boomwhackers and drums from this time? It’s going to be extremely fun times, and an amazing start to an amazing journey.
Lunch | 1:00PM – 2:00PM | Gould Street
Free food sponsored by St. Louis Wings and Ribs. No need to say more.
Blue and Gold Games | 2:00PM – 4:30PM | Kerr Quad
Right after lunch, during this new event, each Orientation Group of new students and leaders will pair off and compete against each other in various games and activities to win Eggy’s Cup and a chance to watch the Ryerson Rams vs. Humber Hawks Mens Basketball Game from the beautiful Alumni Lounge! These games are a chance to meet new friends on this first full-day at Ryerson, as you and your team try to claim victory at the Blue and Gold Games. Ryerson pride will shine bright this day. Who will come out on top? Will your team be triumphant? May the odds be ever in your favour. (Activewear suggested. Open to all levels of physical ability.)
Water Olympics | 2:00PM – 4:30PM | residence students only | Pitman Quad
In this annual event for residence students only, residence floors compete against each other in fun games for coveted game and spirit pins. Come ready to get soaked – we take the water part of water olympics very seriously – and be ready to cheer your face off to win the coveted title of Water Olympics Champions and Spirit Champions!) (Activewear suggested. Open to all levels of physical ability.)
Pep Rally and Parade to the MAC | 4:30PM – 5:30PM | Gould Street
Get geared up with the Ryerson Students’ Union as we get hyped up and ready to watch our mens basketball team take on the Humber Hawks! We will be meeting on Gould Street and rumble down to the Mattamy Athletic Centre to show our support to our team.
Ryerson Rams VS Humber Hawks: Basketball Game | 5:30PM – 8:00PM | Mattamy Athletic Centre
Come in your Ryerson gear and cheer on your Men’s Basketball team at the Mattamy Athletic Centre as they will be playing fellow Toronto rival the Humber Hawks! Don’t forget to bring all your blue and gold spirit! Also, the winner of the Blue and Gold Games and Water Olympics will experience the VIP experience at this game with preferred seating and food!
Trivia Night | 8:00PM – 10:00PM | POD 250
What’s the name of Cory’s love interest in Boy Meets World? What is the process that plants use to convert light to food? Have you ever wanted to put those fun facts to use? Bring a couple of friends and win some prizes at our Trivia night! We will be having 3 different sessions during this time for you to slot in an out.
Costume Karaoke | 8:00PM – 10:00PM | Ram In The Rye
End the day by singing your heart out at our annual orientation karaoke night at the Campus Pub, the Ram and the Rye but don’t forget to dress up before you head over! Don’t worry if you don’t have anything to dress up in because your lovely hosts, the Ryerson Students’ Union will be providing fun swag as well! This event is open to students of all ages.
Stars Beneath City Lights | 8:00PM – 11:00PM | residence students only | Pitman Quad
Enjoy your second night in residence and celebrate with a quad party, thrown for you right in your front yard! Enjoy a DJ performance, games, and food as you begin to settle in to your new home.
