My First Week Here! | Nida Shaikh | #RoadToRyerson

Hey everyone!

So it’s been a while since you’ve heard from me but here I am! Frosh was such a blast and I had such a great time! I met so many people and they were all amazing. I’m so glad I got to meet some of you! Above is a video of a compilation of pictures that I took at during O-week. Enjoy!

Fast forward a few days after Orientation, and the Fall semester was set to begin on Tuesday, September 8th. On one hand where I was super excited to be starting school at Ryerson, on the other hand, I was actually pretty nervous. The night before I could barely sleep! (Although to be fair, whenever I know something is going to happen or I know I’m going to go somewhere, I can never fall asleep. Does this happen to you guys too?)

The first day of university arrived and there I was commuting my way to Toronto, alone. It felt like I was on an adventure, ready to embark on a path that would lead me towards accomplishing my goals for the future. I was super duper excited. Then I arrived at Ryerson.

The campus and buildings were filled with so many students walking to classes, coming back from classes, meeting new friends, and catching up with old friends. You could feel the excitement in the air. Everyone was excited to be there, both new and old students.

As time passed by and it was almost time for my first lecture to take place, I became nervous. Anxiety began to settle in and I felt butterflies in my stomach. However, as I walked into the class (more like movie theatre tbh), I spotted some familiar faces and made new friends. It was truly amazing. Everyone was friendly and hey why not jump at the chance of making some friends?

My first week went by in a similar fashion. But let’s not forget my professors. They were all so welcoming. They were really patient in answering so many questions relating to this and that, and helping us understand stuff.

Orientation week and my first week at university was a blast and I hope you all had as much fun as I did!

It felt like just yesterday that I was selected to share my story with you all and here we are today, saying goodbye as my journey to my first year at university ends.

This is where my #RoadToRyerson led me and I am not disappointed in the least. I made the right choice to come to Ryerson University.

I’d like to thank RU Student Life and everyone involved for giving me this chance to share my story with you all!

Thank you.
