Summer Lovin’ the SLC

What goes on at the Student Learning Centre when the majority of Ryerson’s students disappear for the summer? Even though most of the university’s students might be on vacation, the SLC isn’t – we’re open, supporting students and their needs year-round!

There are plenty of events happening at the SLC this summer. June was Pride Month and at the SLC, we showed our true colours and displayed our Pride to celebrate the LGBTQ+ community! Prime Minister Trudeau even got in on the celebrations and showcased it on his social media using our SLC as his backdrop. Your Pride is our Pride!

Even though our main doors are under construction, we’re still here! Come in to the SLC for solo study, group work or just to relax and hang out. If you’re wondering if you can still book a CGWR or a session at RULA’s Digital Media Experience Lab, the answer is YES!

Get hungry while studying? Starbucks might closed for the month of August, but right outside the SLC’s doors is Ryerson’s weekly market! Check out the different vendors every Wednesday from 11 a.m. to  3 p.m. on Gould Street. You can find a lot of interesting – and tasty – items there that include anything from “bee-safe” homemade honey to veggies grown at Ryerson’s Urban Farm, located on top of the Engineering building.

Stop by and say hello to the Student Engagement and Leadership (SEAL) Team; we’re here ensuring that the SLC remains a world-class destination throughout the summer. For those of you who won’t be using the space for the next couple of months, we’re looking forward to your return.

Happy summer, everyone!

As an inspiring writer and future dog mom, Danielle is enjoying her time as a second year Creative Industries student and blogger (although no dogs have been involved in the process so far). In her spare time she enjoys reading... except she hasn't done that since starting university. She promises to read for pleasure again after she graduates. So yeah, Danielle is enjoying life aside from the lack of dogs and books in it.
